Located at 1200 meters above sea level in Alishan of Chiayi County, Melastoma Coffee Estate is named after a local flower that blooms all year round. Owner Pao-His Huang is a long-time tea farmer who applies his knowledge in tea cultivation and tea processing to growing and processing coffee.
Celebrated for its award-winning Geisha coffees, Melastoma Coffee Estate secured 3rd place in the 2025 Taiwan Cup of Excellence and has been a consistent winner in numerous local competitions. The Honey Process Geisha is an auction lot, crowned with the Golden award at the 2025 Chiayi County Specialty Coffee Manors competition, where local coffee producers gathered with national judges and coffee professionals to select the best coffees and promote Taiwanese Specialty Coffee. It follows the Taiwan Coffee Appellation Grading System to ensure the winning lots meet the highest international standard.
We were also able to secure high quality Natural process and Washed Process Geisha Coffees from Melastoma Coffee Estate that are both competition grade lots.
About the region -
Alishan mountain is famous for producing top quality high mountain tea. Now many young generations of tea farmers start to switch to grow specialty coffee. When Belux Coffee visited the farm, Alishan was covered by fog with much lower temperature. The unique micro-climate and geography created a special environment to plant coffee.
