Part-Time Barista (able to work on Saturdays and Sundays)

Belux coffee is a specialty coffee shop focus on high quality coffee selection and preparation. We are searching for an engaging, courteous barista who is passionate about specialty coffee and willing to serve one of the best coffees in town. The barista will greet customers cheerfully, courteously and professionally, answer their questions, take orders, accept payments and fulfill orders. Meanwhile you will maintain a clean and organized workspace and seating area. You must be able to work fast and efficiently yet maintain composure under pressure and always be cheerful and friendly.  The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and knowledge of espresso machines and other coffee equipment operations, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a passion for coffee, tea and pastry. This position involves shift work for early mornings, weekends and holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming, engaging and friendly environment to all customers and Provide menu assistance to customers

• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages such as specialty coffee and teas, and other food products (e.g., sandwiches, baked goods, etc.) either on premise consumption or take-out

• Introduce specialty coffee concept and sells coffee, brewing equipment and accessories by making product recommendations

• Monitor proper operation of brewing and other food equipment; resolve and/or report any equipment problems promptly for resolution

• Help track food and supply inventory (e.g., in display cases, behind counter, etc.) and assist with restocking as necessary

• Help maintain and keep all serving, food & beverage preparation and common areas sanitary and clean

• Follow all health and safety guidelines and procedures. Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.

• Learning about coffee to stay up to date with new coffee trends, brewing techniques, and coffee knowledge to provide the best coffee experience to customers.

Requirements

• Minimum 1-2 years as a specialty coffee barista and familiar with espresso machine, coffee brewing, tea and food preparation. Desire to grow into a management role

• Positive, customer-friendly attitude with strong interpersonal communication skills

• Obsessed with product quality and delivering outstanding customer service

• Self-motivated and trustworthy, able to work with minimal supervision

• Strong teamwork abilities to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-volume environment

• Ability to meet regular, consistent and punctual attendance schedules and flexibility to work different schedule (holiday and weekend) as needed

• Adaptable to change and willing to embrace new ideas and processes and ability to follow directions

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

 

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

• Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.​​​
