In 2025, the Belux Coffee team visited Zou Zhou Yuan, nestled approximately 1,300 meters above sea level in Alishan, Chiayi County. There, we experienced firsthand the curiosity and dedication behind its award-winning coffees.
Owner Cheng-Lun Fang, affectionately known as Taiwan’s “Coffee Prince,” is a member of the Indigenous Tsou community and comes from a family of tea and orchid growers. After spending years in Taipei, he returned to the family farm, where growing coffee became a source of purpose, confidence, and personal accomplishment.
During our visit, we explored his nursery and experimental growing areas, discovering varieties including Mokka, Pacamara, and Sidra. Fang’s attention extends to individual trees: he carefully cups their coffees to understand their distinct qualities and guide his growing and processing decisions.
His philosophy is simple: while Taiwan may produce coffee in small quantities, it can distinguish itself through exceptional quality. His continued exploration of rare varieties reflects that commitment—and gives us even more to look forward to tasting.
Zou Zhou Yuan has earned multiple first-place awards in coffee competitions, and this month we’re excited to share both its natural and washed Geisha with you. Join us for our November coffee tasting to explore Taiwan’s premium Geisha coffees and discover the dedication behind every cup.
This month, we’re excited to share natural and washed Geisha from Zou Zhou Yuan alongside a Geisha and SL34 selection from Gû Buâ Kak Estate. Tasting them together offers an opportunity to explore their differences and discover your own favorites.
